It appears that Iowa has the largest per-capita readership. 18.6 readers per 1000 residents, to be precise. As to why Playboy is so popular in Iowa, Matt Hammen, a student in Kirkwood, offers the following theory:
"I think [Iowans] are politically active, and it meets our intellectual needs."
Apparently, he reads it for the articles. (snicker)
